About Us

EQ is the latest chapter in the legacy of one of Kuala Lumpur’s most well-known hospitality names. The original Hotel Equatorial was established in 1973 and quickly gained a reputation as a premier five-star destination, famed for its high service standards, and equally renowned for its stellar restaurants and bars. After 40 years as one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, a redevelopment was announced in 2012. EQ was unveiled in March 2019, as part of the much-lauded Gold-standard Green Building Index-accredited Equatorial Plaza. The 52-storey hotel tower is ultra-modern and environmentally conscious, yet infused with its predecessor’s legendary warmth and outstanding level of hospitality.

EQ offers 440 lavish guestrooms and suites with opulent amenities and stunning city views from every angle. As befitting a premier city hotel, it also has 13 fully equipped meeting and banquet rooms designed to cater to events such as board meetings, AGMs, media conferences, focus groups and training sessions. The unique 1,025 sqm Diamond Ballroom and Gallery offer flexible options for hosting events of all sizes including weddings and exhibitions, large conferences, and bespoke events.

For a respite from the bustle of the city, Sanctum Wellness on Level 29 is an entire floor dedicated to fitness and wellness, including a state-of-the-art hotel gymnasium, spa and treatment rooms, a 25-metre infinity pool, a refreshing vitality pool, a Himalayan salt sauna, and an aromatherapy steam room.

On the highest level of EQ is the luxurious urban dining and entertainment space – Sky51. It is home to Sabayon, a rooftop restaurant specialising in contemporary European cuisine and using only the finest ingredients. The ideal location for celebratory occasions such as birthdays, wedding proposals, anniversaries, and intimate wedding receptions. Situated right next to the fine dining restaurant is Blue, Kuala Lumpur’s popular rooftop lounge known for its live music. Additionally, Sky51 boasts a magnificent open-air rooftop bar that showcases the city’s panoramic skyline. This location is perfect for gatherings, post-event celebrations, and private parties where one can raise a toast to all occasions with expertly crafted cocktails and revel in the high life accompanied by live music and DJs.

Catering to both business and vacationing guests, EQ is notable for its location in the heart of the city. EQ is a short 12-minute walk to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and the adjacent shopping district; and a mere six-minute walk to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, making it the ideal choice for both leisure and business travellers alike.

With its commitment to sustainable practices and exceptional hospitality, EQ is a testament to Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant tourism industry and its status as a world-class destination.
